http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Peter%203:13-22&version=9; My Thoughts: In his epistle Peter is encouraging Christians scattered in countries around - even as far as Asia. These believers had fled because of persecution and they are still facing persecution. He says, "Don't be afraid of suffering. You may even be called to suffer for doing right but you will be blessed for that. You should always be ready to explain your motives for your actions and give a reason for your faith when questioned. V 15, 16. Then, V 17, if you are called upon to suffer for doing right, don't be afraid. Remember Jesus and rejoice. He suffered for sinners, though He was sinless. " V 18, "He was not guilty but died for the sin of others to bring them to God. So when called upon to suffer they should be willing to follow His example and God will be pleased." See Ch 2:21, Christ is our example, our helper and our savior. Challenge: Most of us are not called upon to suffer as the Christians to whom Peter wrote suffered. But I believe many today whether at school, or at work, endure many insults, derision, even anger when they stand up for what is right. We must be prepared for this and ready to give an answer. Prayer: Thank you Lord for the privilege of suffering for you and with you. Forgive me for my fear and give me joy in anything I have to endure for you. Lord make me willing to suffer for you.
